    KITCHEN SINK

Works exactly the same as the normal sink.  All I did was change the mesh.   Not sure yet how well the dirty state works.

    FUNCTIONING CURTAINS NOW RECOLOURABLE!

These curtains were meshed and textured by JWoods, scenegraphed by Numenor, and made to open and close by myself (Inge Jones).  They can be put on auto, so they open just after 7am and close just after 7pm, or you can use their menu to tell them to stay open all the time or closed all the time.

We've finally come up with a way to make them work and be recolourable, and they are provided as a base object for the community, for meshers and recolourers to make new opening and closing curtains from.

You can download this html illustrated guide which gives some further details and shows you how to enable the diagonal version if you do clone it.   You will need to have learnt from somewhere else how to do your desired graphic edits.

Note to anyone who made new mesh and colours for the previous version: This version has a different filename, different GUID and different internal resource names, so that they won't crash the game if you accidentally leave the old ones in the game.  If you wish to reuse any meshes or textures you made for the old version, you will need to import them into a fresh clone or fresh recolour package made from this new version in Object Workshop.

Under 60 polygons

  FUNCTIONING BLINDS

My first very own mesh!!!   This opens and closes as do the curtains above, but the graphics work differently.  In this case there are two textures for the object, but only one mesh, and you make the open and closed state using the alpha channel.  The mesh I made actually reaches the ground, so by simply using your painting program, you can make this accommodate all window heights.  Straight and diagonal package files inside zipfile.

You are welcome to use this as a base for new meshes and recolours, and publish your work.  No restrictions.

Below are a couple of recolours I have already done.  You will need to download the original jade colour blinds as they have the mesh.

    DAYS-LEFT SHRUB

Fake menu shows you at a glance how long every Sim on the lot has left in his or her age stage.  Useful for predicting the death of elders.  Remember, menu is for reading only, and the options don't do anything.

    NO AUTONOMY EASEL

Stops your Sim leaving a half-finished painting on every easel in the house just to be awkward!

    INTERCOM/BABY ALARM

The smaller object (which is meant to be a CD Rom in case you couldn't recognise it from the picture) is the transmitter, and you place that in the nursery, or any room that you'd like your Sims to be able to detect sound from.   It's best to hide it under some furniture as it can't be walked over in all circumstances.  The larger object goes on the wall of the room where you want the Sims to be alerted, e.g. the parents' bedroom.   It has an on and off setting in case they want a lie in some mornings while another Sim has their receiver on instead. You can use as many transmitters and receivers as you like, and in this version they all share the same "channel".

This also contains a small global hack, to the BHAV "Wake - everyone in room", which theoretically could clash with another person's hack that includes that BHAV.   A clash could be a nuisance and stop one of the hacks working, but should not destroy any data.

    PLEASE YOURSELF 2 PLANT

6th May 2005 fixed "Bladder dynamic" setting which had not been working

Some of you may be familiar with this object from The Sims 1 days.  You select a sim from those on the lot, and then choose which motives you want maintained and how.  Each half hour this object will ensure they are set as you choose.  The old autonomy feature is not included in this object, but a new feature is that it can be allocated to "everyone" in which case it can be used like the Sims 1 "Party Plant".

Note: this stores the current Object ID of the sim rather than Neighbour ID, so if you delete the Sim or allocate it to a visitor who leaves, it will lose its owner.  Going to work or school is not counted as leaving the lot.

    STAY-THINGS SHRUB

Has a menu so you can choose if your buy mode objects stay when the family moves out, or get sold.

Using the option sets the objects that are already there at the time.  If you buy new objects you'll have to use the shrub again to set them. So for example if you like your fitted kitchen, bathroom and ceiling lights to stay when a family moves out but their personal furniture to go, then put in the kitchen and bathroom and lights first, use the shrub to fix them, then put in the other stuff after.

Note:  Maxis fridges don't like being flagged stay-behind.  It stops them working.  Either flag other objects before buying your fridges, or else download this patch which changes the bit of Maxis code that isn't happy.  The patch goes in Downloads too.

    BOTTOMLESS FEEDING BOTTLE

This is buyable baby's feeding bottle that is to be found under Childcare|All.  Not only does it stay full at all times, but it also checks for and deletes any normal bottles that have been allowed to lie around and get spoilt.

NO-AUTONOMY FRIDGE  9th August 2005 updated to take all recolours made for Maxis fridge

Sims cannot choose to get food from the fridge until the player tells them to.  This stops the annoyance of having a Sim parent cook only for themselves etc.

    INVISIBLE "WET-ROOM" SHOWER

This comes zipped with a controller, because otherwise once the shower has been placed and become invisible, you would not be able to select it again if you wanted to move or delete it.  Please note, I don't yet have the means to make a subtle shower head sticking out of the wall, so this shower really does become *completely* invisible, including the water spray!

Place the shower where you want it.  It looks like a cheap shower, but it's cloned from an expensive one so they like it.  Then place the controller, which looks like a computer CD and also luckily a bit like a wet-room drain.  Don't put the controller right in front of the shower, or in front of the bathroom door.  In front of the toilet or sink should be fine, and the Sims can step over it usually.  You need one controller for each room that has a wet-room shower in it.

You can use the controller to set the shower/s in the same room to visible/invisible, and all the while it sits there, it checks for any puddles to drain to keep the bathroom nice and pleasant.  You can put a shower controller in any room you'd like to be kept free of flooding.

    WALK-IN SHOWER KIT

Wes_H made a great version of the expensive shower that makes all of it invisible except for the controls and shower head. By request of downloaders and by kind permission of Wes, I hacked it so that it needs no privacy and can be used out of doors even on slopes.  It should not need cleaning or repairing either, but I can't promise over a long time.

Please note that you must still leave the tile to the left empty as the getting in and out animations are still the same as for the original shower

Click on the picture to download the hacked shower.  OR click here to download the unhacked shower as Wes originally made it with only the graphics changed (i.e. still has shooing and breaking etc)

  Decorative mailbox   DECORATIVE MAILBOX

This is a copy of the mailbox hacked so it does nothing and is just an ornament for the front garden.  If you have more than one home on a lot you could use this to make it look like they each have a mailbox. The mail carrier will only put mail in the real one.

Decorative pork chops   DECORATIVE PORK CHOP

A pork chop meal hacked so it is an ornament.
